Medical Project

August is always a time of uncertainty as students start to receive their results. Some find they have got better than expected others have not done as well. Decisions have to be made – whether to re-apply or accept an offer through clearing.

If you are forced into a gap year or choose to take some time out to reassess your plans it may be the time to consider spending part of that gap year overseas.

At Projects Abroad we receive phone calls every August from students worried whether they will be able to join a programme. We have a wide range of programmes that can be joined by volunteers on their gap years. Give us a call on 01273 007230 to find out the projects which you can join.

Nomad Project in Mongolia

Every year we have a number of veterinary and medical students who want to add overseas experience to their UCAS forms. We can organise placements for those who want to gain this type of experience or those who just want to take some time out and something a bit different. There are lots of different reasons to join a Projects Abroad programme.

Do something different

After a lifetime of study take time after completing your A levels to escape from home and do something different. You might want to live with Nomads on the edge of the Gobi desert, you might want to live in the rainforest in Peru or work with orphans in Ghana. There are endless opportunities.

Help out

Physiotherapy in Nepal

You can really help out joining one of our programmes. You may be working at a short staffed orphanage in Nepal or helping at a school which struggles to get English teachers in Peru. You may be helping to protect turtles in Mexico. There are all sorts of different things you can do.

Get work experience

If you want to be a teacher, doctor or vet what better way to get experience than to get hands on experience. You might be helping in a small hospital in Southern India or teaching English in a school in Morocco. There are a wide range of opportunities.

Learn a language

What better way to improve your language skills than by Work with Children working overseas. You will be able to live with a local family who will be pleased to help you practice whether it be French in West Africa, Spanish in Latin America, Arabic in Morocco or even Russian in Moldova. Don’t worry if aren’t a linguist you don’t need to speak any languages before you join our programmes.

What better way to prepare yourself for travelling than living with a local family who will give you all the advice you need on where to go and where to stay. Our local staff also have a wealth of knowledge they are willing to share with you. Volunteers often go travelling at the weekends whilst on their placements. Most volunteers also take the opportunity to travel further a field after finishing their placements.
